Should i have my hair thinned?

I have hair that is frizzy,curly and SUPER THICK!!! i have gone to a million different hairdressers, and each one says the same thing:"use this product, it will make your hair a lot more manageable".Well, i have tried every product out there,but nothing works.And straightening it takes 2 hours every time i do it.The only option left is getting it thinned.Should i?I am going for a soft-curls Lauren Conrad kind of style.
