Why does America portray anything that is not radically right wing with negativity to be socialist/communism?

Just what do you refer to as radical right wing? If it is our Constitution, we have lived as a free people for over 200 years and done so quite happily. If it is our capitalism, that also served us well for over 200 years and provided an environment where innovation and business could grow and not be under the watchful eye of the bureaucracies. Where we made our mistake was to allow the politicians to start injecting socialism into our economy. We now are more socialist than capitalist and it is failing us. While Japan was gearing up for war to save their economy, we were inventing new technology, while we were creating technology that would become the computer, Sweden was concerned with relaxing social morals. We have provided the world with many technologies and the concept of personal freedom while most other countries have been under the rule of war lords and monarchies. What do you consider extreme right wing again?
